Here are some of the stories everyone’s buzzing about –
1. Nigerians aren’t here for The Weekend calling himself Starboy, and folks have been airing their grievances on social media. I meannnn, it makes sense. Wizkid has been Starboy since at least 2013, if not before. The Weekend is dope, but he might need to take an L for this one. [These tweets though. Lol some are pure comedy.]
2. Finally – a little good news surrounding the Chibok Girls. 21 of the girls were released on Thursday, in a deal that was brokered by the Swiss government and the International Red Cross. The girls were met by Vice President Osibanjo who told the girls, “The whole country has been waiting for your release.” Truth.
3. Davido released the visuals for his track with Tinashe, titled “How Long”. Feelin’ it?
4. Toju Foyeh and OAP Dotun are the latest celebrities to advise ArikAir to pack-up. Their accounts of what happened to them when traveling international with the airline, are funny/not funny. Hope you’ve finally gotten your suitcase, Toju! #smh
5. Agreed. Michelle Obama is one of the best things about America. In the light of the latest madness happening around Donald Trump, (with women coming forward saying he sexually assaulted them), MO had one of the most powerful talks ever, with the audience at a Hilary rally yesterday. Listening to her speak (starts at the 25 minute marks), just makes you want to stand up and clap. Like yes. This woman gets it and what she is saying is a matter of national importance.
6. Finally, politicians in Abuja DO NOT want the BBC to air a potentially damaging interview that Aisha Buhari – Pres Buhari’s wife – did for the channel. Apparently she spills tea, noting the folks in the government who are causing tension and division in the current administration, etc. I hope they air it so we can hear what’s really going down in ABJ.
xo,
Lola
PS. If you’re into podcasts, Complex put together this list of some of the best out right now. Oh and Bob Dylan won a Nobel Prize…which is both surprising and delightful.
