As Naija gets ready to toss a few over Iran, everyone’s buzzing about the showdown between USA and Ghana happening tonight at 6pm EST. The US has lost to the Blackstars in the last two World Cup matches…is it about to be a three-peat or is the US taking this one? Predict after the click.
Ghana is considered the underdog of Group G, aka the “Group of Death” which hosts Germany (who just spanked Portugal 4-0), Portugal, the US and the Blackstars. But according to forward Asamoah Gyan, it’s all good. During an interview yesterday, he stated:
We know that’s what everybody thinks about Ghana, rating Ghana as underdogs and the other teams as favorites which is statistically the right thing, but in football you can’t win with names anymore,” Al-Ain striker Gyan said during a news conference. “It depends what you’re going to do on the field. I think so far we’ve had a lot of surprises in the tournament.
“I can’t say that’s what will happen tomorrow but we believe in ourselves and we know what we need to do on the field. We enjoy being the underdogs and we will be ourselves and do the right thing.”
