I was already a little excited when I heard Michelle was doing a new version of the popular Nigerian/African gospel song, “Say Yes” but seeing the video with all three members of Destiny’s Child is such a treat. DC getting hype for Jesus 😉 Check the video after the click.
Although we heard a little while ago, we heard that the group was in New Jersey filming for the Say Yes video, the news wasn’t meant to be leaked. As Pitchfork note,
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Williams revealed that the “reunion”—which came together after her groupmates heard her single and loved it—was supposed to be kept secret. That changed as soon as the trio attempted a clandestine shoot for the song’s visual in a residential area:
“We heard all this commotion going on while we were filming,” Williams recalls.”We filmed at somebody’s house, and they probably got excited and called their cousins and friends and, next thing you know, the whole town was on one street… I woke up to the news of the song being leaked and I just hate when that happens because it was an unmastered version. At the same time, I was overwhelmed by the support. I know things happen for a reason. I don’t want anyone to think I’m pissed. I’m not.”
The wait’s over – Michelle released the finished video and track today on Good Morning America. Check it out below:
The song will appear on Michelle’s upcoming gospel album, Journey to Freedom.
What’d you think of the video?
