At the second United Nations Sustainable Energy for All Forum, held this past week in New York City, Akon, announced his new ‘Solar Academy.’ The Academy will launch this summer in Bamako, Mali and is part of his Akon Lighting Africa initiative, which aims to bring electricity to some of the 600 million Africans who lack it.
