Lots of new stuff in music from around the globe this lovely Wednesday morning. Check out the super sweet video for ‘Iyawo Mi’ from singer, Timi Dakolo featuring his wife and brand new cover art and a video teaser from Jenny from the Block, Jennifer Lopez, after the click.
First up, Timi Dakolo brings the sweetness in his new video, Iyawo Mi, a vintage joint inspired by the 70s and centering around the story of newlyweds getting started in life together. The song was produced by Cobhams Asuquo and the video was directed by Clarence Peters and shot in Ogun State, Nigeria. Timi’s wife in real life – Busola Dakolo – plays his wife in the video so that was nice to see. You guys already know I love videos that make sense – follow a story line and is well thought out – so two thumbs to the team that put this together. Watch the video below:
‘Iyawo Mi’ is the first single off Timi’s upcoming alum – Love and Consequences. Looking forward to more great music and visuals from him soon.
Next up, Jennifer Lopez reminds us she used to be a FlyGirl (the name of the dancers on In Living Color, one of the first sketch comedy shows to run in the early 90s – JLO was a dancer on the show) with this new single she’s got with Pitbull called ‘Booty.’ Check out the cover art and the video teaser below:
Video teaser:
Okay, Jenny! Sort of reminiscent of Nicki Minaj’s now infamous ‘Anaconda’ back shot, isn’t it?
Fans have a lot to say about this one. The comments on YouTube about the video range from horrified (many people commented that they have a problem with her being 44 years old and doing a video like this) to pride and encouragement of her doing her thing like the greats did before her (Madonna, etc). What’s your take?
