Who caught Jay Z’s twitter storm last night? The rapper sent multiple messages on the platform, name checking all the rappers and artists who’ve inspired him over the years. The flurry was in response to his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, making him the first rapper to receive the honor.
Jay – who was handpicked by his peers and has been in the game since 1996 – joins the likes of Ira Gershwin, John Lennon, Elton John, and Lionel Richie. He’s been in the rap game since 1996, has 21 Grammys and 13 solo No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200. Former US president, Barack Obama took out time to praise and congratulate him for his induction and called him the ‘Greatest Rapper of all time’. Watch his intro below:
