INTERVIEWS: Burna Boy Talks Sound, New Album & Big Collabos + Olamide Discusses ‘The Truth’ with Olisa

In separate interviews done recently, two of Naija’s hottest musicians – Burna Boy and Olamide – discussed their music, sound and what fans can expect from them next. Watch the interviews after the click.

First up is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu aka Burna Boy. He appeared on Soundcity’s My Music & I and talked about his new record label, Spaceship Records, his five favorite songs from the upcoming album, On The Spaceship, (due out summer 2015) and who he wants to work with in the future, including Beyonce and Rihanna.

I dug this. As someone who bumps Burna’s music regularly, it was cool to hear how he classified his music. He’s def come a long way from Like to Party (still banger) and now that he’s signed to Universal, it will be interesting to see how his music continues to evolve.

 

Next up, Olamide Adedeji aka Olamide talks with Olisa on his show, The Truth.  Olisa gets all up in Olamide’s business (lol in a good way), asking him about everything from whether he feels he owes some of his success to Dagrin (the very popular Naija rapper who died tragically in a car accident a few years back) to his relationship status and what he’s waiting on to get married.  Watch the interview below:

Olamide’s interview was insightful. Def didn’t know what YBNL (Olamide’s company) actually stood for beforehand – Yahoo Boy No Laptop. Young boy, staying fresh without doing illegal/questionable things.  Also, did you get a feeling that Olamide really rides for his crew? He calls them his soldiers. There were a bunch of times in the interview when he talked about motivating them, working for them, etc.  Real leadership things. Nice.
