We woke up to some good news this morning – Nicki Minaj finally decided to respond to Remy Ma’s #shEther (and others who’ve taken jabs at her recently including Meek Mill), with not one but 3 new music drops including No Frauds (featuring Drake and Tunechi), Changed It (featuring Wayne) and Regret In Your Tears (which she did solo). Did the tracks hit the spot? Did they adequately respond?
To me, answer is yes. And no.
After listening to all three, the clear winner is Regret in Your Tears – which isn’t even a diss track; it’s more like her opening up about her relationship with Meek and basically telling him he missed a great one. Next would be Changed It which has a beat that everyone I’ve spoken to agrees will probably be VERY successful in the clubs and on radio. Finally – No Frauds, which is the actual Remy diss.
No Frauds itself felt cute but lackluster. It didn’t have the same bite as shEther and it wasn’t a catchy diss anthem in the way that Back to Back was. Plus, Nicki probably didn’t need Wayne and Drake on it – she could have handled it by herself, especially because the most they said was that she was getting finer with time. Which is cool, I guess. lol but this is battle rap, and the cosign didn’t seem necessary.
Anyways, overall, glad she said something at last. We can all move on now.
What did you think – did Nicki adequately address the situation or did you want more?
