It’s going to be interesting to see what happens in Lagos when BBM officially launches for IOS and Android. I feel like BBM is the only thing still holding people to their BBs. Well, they may not need to wait much longer. BBM for IOS & Android is on its way. Details after the click.
The Blackberry Z10 and Q10 brought a little bit of spark back to the BB experience when they dropped ealrier this year, but not for too long. Buzz began again when we got wind that BBM will be available on the IOS (Apple) and Android platforms. Word is they were supposed to launch a few days agao but as CNET notes – BBM for both are in Beta:
BlackBerry reportedly has an updated version of its BBM Android app going through the beta testing process.
Citing reports about the new BBM for Android beta, CrackBerry.com said Thursday that the app is now in the hands of beta test groups. Based on a series of e-mails sent to CrackBerry, apparently from the beta testers, the new version includes a few changes over its predecessor.
Overall, the new interface is more polished. A new welcome screen now pops up to explain the app notifications. The status bar’s persistent notification can be disabled. And several bug fixes are also part of the package.
As for what happened last week when the apps were originally meant to go live, Cnet continues:
No details were uncovered as to a potential launch date. BlackBerry has been under the gun to release its BBM for Android and iOS apps ever since a snafu stifled the official launch almost two weeks ago.
An unreleased version of BBM for Android somehow leaked online, soaking up more than 1.1 million downloads within just eight hours. However, that version had a glitch that created a spike in data traffic and affected BlackBerry on the backend. As a result, BlackBerry put the brakes on the official rollout of BBM for Android and for iOS.
Anyone looking forward to this? I know I am. If my blackberry could talk, it would probably say – “Retire me. Please. I beg you.”
