#CrazyEyes wins! Huge, huge congratulations to actress Uzoamaka Nwaneka “Uzo“ Aduba who plays the role of Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on my current TV show addiction, Orange is the New Black. Details after the click.
Suzanne Warren is one of the most interesting characters on the hit Netflix show, Orange is the New Black, and the actress who plays her, Uzo Aduba, was recognized for her acting chops in playing her, winning her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series.
The Emmy’s recognize an actor’s skills in the technical achievements of the art of acting and Uzo definitely shines in her role, bringing to light all of Crazy Eye’s endearing qualities – her intelligence, sensitivity, sweetness, innocence, vulnerability and even her craziness.
Uzo brought her family to the awards, with her mom sitting next to her rocking her headtie when Morgan Freeman announced her as the winner of her category. In her speech, she thanked members of the show (including Laverne Cox, who was also nominated for an Emmy) and her mom who “came from Nigeria to make a better life for her family”. Catch her emotional speech below (start watching at around 1:12):
PS. Congrats to Joe Morton who plays Papa Pope on our other TV show love, Scandal, with Kerry Washington. He won for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series.
