54 year old Angelique Kidjo, from Benin Republic, took one home for Africa last night at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. She won the Grammy for the World Music Album of the Year for her album entitled, ‘Eve.’ In her acceptance speech, she noted:
This album is dedicated to the women of Africa — to their beauty and resilience. Women of Africa — you rock! For me, music is a weapon of peace, and today more than ever, as artists we have a role to play in the stability of this world.
This is Kidjo’s second Grammy. She won her first back in 2007 for her album ‘Djin Djin.’
